In 2009 we did promotional site for the Penguin Group’s new anthology of the bay aera’s punk scene: Gimme Something Better, written by authors Jack Boulware and Silke Tudor. We created a site that has had a significant promotional impact and also has become user generated archive for rare flyer art and photography from that era.
Punk Design
We have a lot of fun developing the look and feel of GimmeSomethingBetter.com. We were asked try and emulate the style of that era with resorting to the cliche ‘ransom note’ style lettering so ofter associated with the punk scene.
Web Traffic Monitoring
Since the website’s launch in August in 2009 has close to 70 thousand pageviews because its unique user generated and niche content. DGT was instrumental in the development of this archive that continues to grow and probte the book to this day.
Gallery / Image Upload Capabilities
We developed a way for the authors to publish the archive of hundreds of photos, flyers, and record art on the site, as well as a way for enthusiastic fan to contribute through an upload area. Uploaded photos, after being moderated, are automatically added to the galleries on the site and emailed to the authors for archiving.
Punk Playlist
We found a way for the authors to legally playback music from that era on the site by embedding a player from a music streaming service caller LaLa. Unfortunately, Apple bought Lala.com and this service was disabled.
